Addy is a curious and creative 10-year-old on the autism spectrum. She and her mother have recently moved into a new home and are still working to meet many of their household needs. Addy loves to explore, observe, and express herself through painting and collage. Although she is unreliably verbal, she has found meaningful ways to communicate and connect with others through her art. Playful and determined, Addy sometimes finds it difficult to engage with peers because of her communication challenges, but she never stops trying. At school and on the playground, she can often be found happily engaged in parallel play. Addy would be thrilled to receive a children’s painting and drawing set or an arts-and-crafts kit this Christmas.
